Continuing their interests in drawing and reflection, this week Morah Jessica offered the Pre-Kitah Alef children two large sheets of cardboard covered with aluminum foil.

The children were offered recycled materials as canvases such as sheets of cardboard and cut-up folders.

The Kitah Gimmel children have exhibited a strong thread of interest in building and sculpture.

Kitah Alef’s interest in sensory play and paint inspired Morah Jessica to offer a “Feet Painting” provocation in the Atelier.

The children were each presented with their own large plexiglass circle and saucers of colored glitter glue in pastel shades.

Kitah Alef’s most recent sensory art experience involved painting with salt. First the children used droppers to release watercolors onto a sheet of watercolor paper.

The children often build their own drum sets and set up their own bands on the playground. They often use the blocks, pots, pans, and crates on the playground and reimagine them as their instruments.

This year, the children explored portraiture in some very unique ways. They recreated their image with watercolors, cut paper, clay and loose parts, yarn, and wire.

The children were presented with finger paint mixed with puffy paint in a variety of shades. The children dipped their fingers in the paint and dragged their fingers across the paper. 

The Kitah Gimmel children have been so interested in building, sculpture, and problem-solving this year.

Kitah Daled continues to make portraits. This time the children used wire to make their faces.

Pre-Kitah Alef children have been interested in drawing recently. Noticing this, Morah Jessica offered them another drawing opportunity in the Atelier.

Kitah Alef’s most recent painting experience was stamping.

In the Atelier, the children were presented with recycled materials and pastel-colored washable paints.

Following Kitah Bet’s interest in nature we made fairy houses.

Morah Jessica offered the Pre-Kitah Alef children squares of sandpaper as their canvas this week.

This week, Pre-Kitah Alef was offered colored ice as paint.

During Enrichment, the children were presented with a trunk of assorted recycled materials. 

Kitah Daled was introduced to Polymer Clay during the lead-up to Purim. The children sculpted Hamantaschen with various color fillings.

Kitah Alef made matzah covers. Each child was given a white, cloth napkin. They traced a stencil of the Hebrew word Matzah using acrylic paint markers.

The Kitah Daled children made Afikomen bags for Pesach. Each child chose a sheet of felt in a color that they liked.
