Feet Painting with Kitah Alef
Kitah Alef’s interest in sensory play and paint inspired Morah Jessica to offer a “Feet Painting” provocation in the Atelier.
This week the children were presented with a large bin containing sheets of watercolor paper laid out on a dropcloth. The children selected a few shades of washable tempera and gel paints.
Townes said, “I want green.”
The children took their shoes and socks off in preparation. Morah Jessica squeezed their chosen colors of paint onto the watercolor paper. Next, the children stepped onto the paint.
Lily said “It tickles!”
They walked over the paper, blending the colors and making prints of their feet across the page.
Kieran noticed, “It feels like soap.”
