Kitah Gimmel Cardboard Construction

The Kitah Gimmel children have exhibited a strong thread of interest in building and sculpture. Through this year, they have worked in this way with a variety of materials. Many of those materials have been loose parts and/or recycled. Most recently the children have been introduced to some cardboard tools.

Morah Dena recently gifted us with a Chomp Saw. This machine safely allows children to cut cardboard into any shape they desire.

Morah Jessica also presented the children with some mini serrated saws and special cardboard scissors. The children wore gloves to work with the serrated tools.

After cutting the cardboard, the children were offered a set of washers, bolts, and screwdrivers, as well as duct tape. They were able to make holes and connect pieces into new shapes, if they wished.
