Kitah Alef’s Splatter Painting

Kitah Alef children have enjoyed the texture of paint and applying it with a variety of tools.

We’ve also been working on gross motor development. Naturally, this led us to creating a painting for Kitah Alef’s auction art.

First the children spread gesso across the canvas using paint scrapers.

Next, the children dipped toothbrushes and plastic pallet knives into acrylic paint in shades of blue, teal, brown, gold, gray, white, black, and silver. They shook and splattered the paint onto the canvas.

After this layer dried, the children again splattered the same colors of paint on top of the dried paint. They used tools like plastic forks, popsicle sticks, and a long-handled scrub brush.

Dash adds finishing touches of gold paint and silver foil.
