Recycled Portraits in Kitah Daled

The children of Kitah Daled continue to work on self portraits. This week they made their faces out of recycled materials!

First, the children made simple drawings of their faces. They looked in a mirror and drew what they saw on a rectangular sheet of cardboard using pencil.

The children then dug through Morah Jessica’s containers of recycled materials. There were items like broken toys, bottle and marker caps, tiny screws, hex nuts and washers, assorted brightly colored plastic, wood scraps, and metal pieces.

The children chose shapes that best represented their various features and glued them in place by brushing Weldbond glue over the target area.

There is a surprising amount of variety in the resulting faces, although they are all bright and cheerful.
