Pre-Kitah Alef Sukkot and Simchat Torah Art

For Sukkot, the Pre-Kitah Alef children were offered an assortment of loose wooden parts, ribbons, pipe cleaners, and wooden beads. After selecting their wooden objects, the children painted them with dot markers and washable glitter paint pens. Next, they selected ribbons and pipe cleaners. The materials were strung together into Sukkah decorations.

During Art class, the children were offered rectangles of white fabric along with watercolor mediums. The children dipped watercolor pencils and pastels into a cup of water. They then touched the wet paint to the fabric and watched the color spread. Many of the children enjoyed drossing the pastels into the cup of water. Lev chose the watercolor palette. He enjoyed stirring the water with his paint brush. Once the fabric was dry, Morah Jessica glued the fabric to large popsicle sticks.
