Kitah Alef Layered Canvas
Kitah Alef seems to really enjoy working with paint. Observing this, they were offered a large canvas to paint in the Atelier. The first week the children spread bright colors of tempera paint across a large white canvas, using paint scrapers. Some children explored the paint with their finger tips.
For the next class in the atelier, the children added a layer of white paint to the canvas. Some children splattered white tempera by shaking a paint brush over the canvas and others chose to squirt white paint from a bottle. The result was a combination of lines and dots.
For the last step, the children added glitter glue to the canvas. They dipped chopsticks into pink, purple, and blue glitter glue then held the stick over the canvas and dripped glitter glue across the painting.
