Clay with Kitah Gimmel

Kitah Gimmel began exploring clay recently. The first time they focused on learning to use the clay tools. Some tools were used to flatten the clay, some were used to make holes, some were used to cut. The children also added texture and designs with other tools.

“I rolled the clay.”-Dov

 “I made a design.”-Casey

Next class, children sculpted something to bring home. They thought of something that they wanted to make and chose the tools to help them achieve the idea.

“I made a ladybug. One time a ladybug was  crawling on me and it was so beautiful.”-Rae

  “I made a flower. I think it’s a dinosaur.”-Dylan

Once the clay was dry, the children painted it with tinted Modge Podge and acrylic paint.

“I made a big plate.” -Noa

The last step was coating the entire sculpture with a final layer of Modge Podge and a sprinkle of glitter.

“I made a pancake and a pizza.”-Zev  “I made pasta. My favorite pasta is sprinkler party pasta. Gabi had a sprinkler party and we had pasta.”-Carmi
