Kitah Gimmel-1 Makes Clay Candleholders

For the Shabbat dinner, Kitah Gimmel-1 sculpted their own candle holders. Each child was given two pieces of clay to soften with a rolling pin. Next, the children began shaping the clay into cylindrical shapes. The children used sculpting tools to carve holes in the center of their clay for the candlesticks. Finally, the children were offered small tiles and glass gems to press into their candleholders.

During their next art class, the children were offered several colors of tinted Mod Podge. The children passed the colors back and forth mixing and marbling the various hues as they glazed their clay.
