Enrichment Art: Kitah Gimmel/Kitah Daled Cardboard Construction
During Enrichment, the children have been working with recycled cardboard. Cardboard is a sturdy, blank canvas for whatever they desire to create. Many of the children enjoy making masks.
After cutting their cardboard into the desired shape, they paint the cardboard with tempera sticks. Morah Jessica helps the children cut out eye holes and attach pipe cleaners for straps.
Many of the children simply enjoy making cardboard collages. They cut scrap paper then glue it to their sheet of cardboard. There’s also washi tape, scrap cardboard, crayons, scissors, and stickers available along with the paint sticks.
The children continue to produce such interesting products. Alongside their masks, they have made dinosaur feet, binoculars, unicorn horns, goggles and many collages. A few of the children especially love to create “scary masks.”
We will continue this work as long as the children continue to be interested. Look for more cardboard innovations coming soon!
