Ping-Pong Painting with Kitah Bet-1
During this week’s Atelier experience, the Kitah Bet children created paintings using a wagon. This experience allowed the children to engage their full body in the artmaking.
Morah Jessica placed a sheet of butcher paper into the bottom of the wagon. The children were invited to join the activity, three at a time. They selected shades of tempera and washable gel paints, then Morah Jessica squeezed the paint onto the paper and placed six ping-pong balls on top.
The children took turns pulling the wagon to make the balls move sound on top of the paint and paper. This created colorful dots and lines across the page. The children tried pushing the wagon back and forth to create different effects.
This experience strengthened the children’s gross motor skills.
