Kitah Gimmel Makes Tree Jewelry

During the Fall, the Kitah Gimmel children noticed that the fig tree outside of their classroom was losing its leaves. One of the children said "Maybe we could put them back on.” Morah Jessica remembered that there were some plastic leaves leftover from an art project from another class, and asked the children if they would like to make some leaves to hang on the fig tree. The children were excited by this prospect.

Next Art class, Morah Jessica offered the children beads, stringable recycled materials, wire, and buttons, The children were each given a painted acrylic leaf attached to a strand of fishing line to add their own materials.

After the children added their recycled treasures onto their string, Morah Jessica tied a loop at the top for hanging each creation. Each child was able to hang their own piece of  “tree jewelry” to the fig tree’s branches.
