Kitah Alef Paints with Scrapers and Palette Knives

The children in Kitah Alef have been showing interest in sensory experiences such as painting. This week Morah Jessica offered the children brightly colored finger paint, plastic paint scrapers, and plastic palette knives. Each child was given a half sheet of cardstock. Next, they chose a plastic tool (or two) to spread the paint across their paper.

Many of the paint scrapers had textured edges, making unique marks and patterns on the pages. As the children dragged their tools through the paint, they watched the colors mix and blend. They stamped their palette knives onto the paper making small, jagged marks. They dragged their knives through the paint leaving lines trailing through the wet colors.
