Kitah Gimmel’s Metal Menorahs

Strong threads of interest in Kitah Gimmel this year are building and sculpture.

Morah Jessica sourced metal loose parts for the children to create their menorahs. There were pop tabs, drawer pulls and knobs, hinges, and other hardware bits.

The children selected the pieces that inspired them the most then organized them into a composition on their tile. They then glued their pieces down using Weldbond glue.

The following week the children were given metallic acrylic paints in jewel-toned colors. The children painted their creations, then sprinkled glitter atop the wet paint. Morah Jessica coated the menorahs with Mod Podge, then added the hex nuts down the center of the tile for candle holders.
