Kitah Gimmel’s Apple Plates

For Rosh Hashanah Kitah Gimmel made apple plates.

In the Atelier, each child was given a clear glass dinner plate. The children were presented with hexagonal stamps, honeycomb stamps, and halved apples. They each stamped an into red or green paint and printed it onto their plate. Next they made honeycomb prints with yellow and gold paint. The children also stamped round, yellow “bee bodies” onto the edges of their plates.

Next session, the children were offered paint markers in shades of black, white, gold, and grey.

The children used these markers to draw stripes, wings, and eyes on their bees. They also each wrote (or traced) their name onto their plate.

Finally, the artwork on each plate was coated with Mod Podge.
