Kitah Daled’s Seder Pillows
The children have been weaving and sewing. We wanted to continue that thread of interest into their Passover art. In the Atelier, the children drew a design on muslin using permanent markers. Next, their design was placed in a small embroidery hoop. The children selected thread in their desired colors and recreated their designs by stitching over them with a needle and thread.
During the next class, the children were each given a satin pillowcase. In small groups, the children dyed their pillowcases with pipettes and liquid watercolors in shades of gold, green, teal, purple, and blue.
Next, the children stuffed each of their pillowcases with Poly-Fil, then attached their design to the front of their pillow using hot glue.
