Snow Sensory Bin with Kitah Alef

This week’s sensory-art experience was exploring fake snow.

The children were offered a large bin filled with a combination of baking soda, shaving cream, and a bit of iridescent glitter. The children chose from an assortment of scoops and spoons to mix and mold the snow.

Plastic Arctic animals were also available to use in the “snow.” The children also could choose fake ice (clear glass tiles), plastic icicles, and “snowballs” (cotton balls) to add to their snowscape.

The children enjoyed making it “snow” by sprinkling the mixture high over the bin. They traded tools with one another while scooping the mixture. A few of the children delightfully exclaimed that they were “so messy!”
