KA Honey Jars
For Rosh Hashanah, Kitah Alef was presented with hexagonal shaped stamps to replicate a honeycomb print.
They dipped the stamps into gold and yellow paint and stamped the shapes onto muslin.
Some of the children preferred the flat, silicon stamps with a small hexagonal grid. Others gravitated towards the cork with hexagonal sponges attached. The corks allowed the children to print without getting their hands messy.
The silicon stamps left small, hollow hexagons on the fabric. The cork stamps printed solid, larger hexagons on the muslin sheet.
The combination of shapes and colors that resulted was very attractive. For a final touch, the children sprinkled gold foil atop the gold and yellow paint.
Once dry, Morah Jessica cut the fabric into squares, glued it to the lids of the jars, and tied a strand of twine around each lid.
