Full-Body Drawing with Kitah Alef

The Kitah Alef children have been really interested in new mediums and experiences. They are also incredibly mobile. During art class the children were introduced to full-body drawing. A large piece of roll paper was taped to the floor. After removing their shoes, the children were offered a variety of crayons. Morah Jessica encouraged the children to lay down on their stomachs, backs, or sides. The children stretched their arms in front of them, seeing how far they could draw. They stretched their arms away from their sides while drawing. This experience was very process oriented. It strengthens the children’s gross motor skills while they are creating and making art.
