Kitah Alef Stamps with Corks

This week the children were introduced to stamping. They were presented with ink pads and corks.

Morah Jessica set out red, orange, and yellow ink pads and a bowl with two different shapes of corks. She showed the children how to press the corks into the ink, then press the cork onto their paper to transfer a print of the texture.

The children alternated colors of ink, layering the circular cork prints on their paper. Some of the children pressed their fingers into the ink pad to feel the ink on their skin.

Kieran discovered that the sponge could be removed from the plastic tray. He appeared fascinated by this. He kept picking it up from the tray. Seeing this, the other children attempted to remove the other sponges, but discovered that they were attached.

We will continue to explore different mediums and methods of strengthening fine motor skills.
