Ping-Pong Painting with Kitah Alef

The Kitah Alef children have been working on strengthening their gross motor skills in the Atelier. The art experiences in the Atelier are focused on helping the children engage and strengthen their arm muscles. These provocations have also been built around the children’s interest in paint.

In this encounter, the children were presented with squeeze bottles filled with red, yellow, and orange tempera paint. They squeezed the paint on top of half sheets of cardstock in a large plastic bin.

Next, they each threw a couple of ping-pong balls into the bin.

The children each held a side of the bin while standing and tipped the bin from side to side causing the balls to roll across their papers, streaking them with paint as they traveled the length of the bin.
