Summer Art in the Atelier-Continued
Kitah Alef-
This week the children explored shaving cream with squeegees and other plastic tools. Exploring the shaving cream with his hands, Benny commented that it “Smells good!” Miles also said, “Smell it.” Menash appeared to enjoy the texture of the shaving cream. He ended up spreading it all over his hands and arms.
Kitah Bet 1&2-
This week the children were offered foam paint and squeegees for a messy paint experience. Morah Jessica squirted different colors of foam paint onto the plexi-glass windows on the middle playground. She then gave the children squeegees to scrape the paint. The children mixed the colors creating a marbled effect on the windows. Violet and Leo really enjoyed the texture of the paint and spread it all over their hands and arms, telling Morah “We’re paint monsters!”
Kitah Gimmel-
This week the children were offered a sensory experience. The children mixed cornstarch, Dawn dish soap, food coloring, and glitter together to make Bubble Dough. Each child had a job. They enjoyed mixing the squishy substance with their hands to incorporate the ingredients. The result was a sort of playdough-slime combination.
Kitah Daled-
The children have been building with boxes and tape. Initially they were stacking them to create towers. Then they discovered that they could open the top and the bottom to create a tunnel. Next, they began cutting doors into the boxes to make them into houses for the animals. This week the children began to add ramps and bridges to the houses.
