IJP-Summer Art

During Summer Camp at IJP the children are offered many messy art and sensory experiences. These sensory experiences are all great for gross motor development.

The Kitah Alef children were offered wooden mallets and sheets of cardboard covered with plastic wrap. Morah Jessica squeezed several different paints onto the cardboard and recovered it with the plastic. The children hammered the paint to mix it and move it around the board. They also pressed the plastic to feel the squishy texture of the paint beneath it.

This week, the Kitah Bet 1 and 2 children painted with their feet and hands while swinging. The children mixed the colors with their hands and feet, commenting on the texture.

During water play the Kitah Gimmel and Daled children were offered a paint experience using water balls filled with a mix of water and watercolor paints. The children threw the water balls at a drop cloth attached to the fence on the lower playground stage. The colors leaked and dripped onto the cloth leaving vibrant marks.
