Summer in the Atelier Continued:
Bubble Foam
This week’s sensory art experience was Bubble Foam! This experience was appropriate for all age groups. The children were presented with a large bin. Each child had a job. The first was adding water to the bin. Next, the children squeezed some gentle, baby bubble bath into the bin. Last, the children selected a bottle of food coloring. For Kitah Alef, Morah Jessica whipped up the bubbles a bit first, with the electric hand mixer. Afterwards, the children were able to mix the bubbles with whisks. We repeated this process a couple more times with different colors of food coloring then combined the foam into the large bin. The children were given droppers, funnels, turkey basters, and a couple cups along with the whisks. They mixed the foam with their tools, marbling the colors as they worked. This process was the same for the other classes, except the older children had the opportunity to use the electric mixer if they wished. The leftover bubble foam was added to a pools for the children to use during water play.
