Kitah Gimmel 2 Paints Watercolor Portraits

The Kitah Gimmel-2 children have recently begun making their own portraits. During Art class, the children were offered water color paints, pencils, and pastels along with a mirror and watercolor paper. Each child was asked to draw their reflection. First, Morah Jessica asked them, “What shape is your face?” The children mostly answered “Round” or “A circle.” The children were asked to draw that shape very large, on their paper. Next, we spoke about where our features are on our face. Morah asked the children to look in the mirror and tell her what is in the middle of their face. They answered, “My nose!” We also spoke about where the eyes and mouth are on the face. Once the children had their features drawn out, they began to add in more color using their watercolor palette and pastels. The portrait ended up being fun, colorful,  and whimsical.
