Kitah Gimmel-Loose Part Bugs

The Kitah Gimmel children have been interested in both building and imaginary play this year. In the Atelier the children were offered squares of cardboard, recycled loose parts, googly eyes, Tacky Glue, and images of insects for reference.

The children began selecting loose parts that appealed to them.  Some used the images as inspiration, while others already had a favorite bug that they wanted to recreate.

We talked about how spiders have eight legs and insects only have six. Some children added antennae and wings to their creatures. Many of the children created beetles. There were also a couple of lady bugs, a spider, and a butterfly.
