Kitah Gimmel’s Fall Forest
The children depicted trees using Fall foliage sourced from the playground and surrounding neighborhood.
On the playground, Morah Jessica presented the children with rectangular sheets of white mattboard, tacky glue, sticks, and fallen leaves to create their own Fall tree. The children were instructed to look at the trees around them for reference.
The children building the trunk and branches first.
They selected a larger stick for their tree trunk, and glued it down on the mattboard. Then they connected smaller branches to their trunk using glue. The children selected different leaves from a basket on the table. There were a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. Some children only added a few leaves to their tree and others filled the branches. One child crumpled the dry leaves and sprinkled the bits over the glue. Several children depicted the fallen leaves covering the ground. This art will be used for Kitah Gimmel’s Thanksgiving invitation.
Next, the children created a sign for their art, gluing sticks onto cardstock to create each letter. Each child wrote their name on cardstock as well. A couple of children also wrote the phrases: Happy Thanksgiving and Please come, as well.
