Kitah Gimmel’s Large Cardboard Flower
After finishing the loose-part wasp, Kitah Gimmel decided that the wasp needed a flower to accompany it.
First, the children built the cardboard base. They drew the parts of the flower on cardboard, then cut them out. They used masking tape to attach the pieces together.
Next, Morah Jessica offered the children a variety of dried flowers and leaves from bouquets as well as Tacky Glue and paint brushes. The children designated different parts of the flower to be different colors. In the center of the flower, they glued blue hydrangeas. The stem was covered in dried white birch branches. The petals alternated colors. After the children finished covering the cardboard base with flowers, they drizzled Mod Podge over the entire project so it would hold together.
