Kitah Daled Summer Enrichment (Part 2)
Due to the summer heat, the children have been offered lots of messy art and water experiences to cool down.
Water Ball Basket Ball
Morah Jessica set up the small water table with water and refillable water balls. The table was set up near the basketball hoops.
Targets were drawn on the plexiglass.
The children squeezed the balls to fill them with water and they threw the balls at the targets and into the hoops.
Handmade Bubble Wands
Morah Jessica mixed a batch of giant bubble solution and poured it into the small water table. Jars of floral wire and pipe cleaners were set on the mulch next to the table.
The children chose a shape that they wanted to make and twisted a pipe cleaner into the shape. A wire was added to the base as a handle.
The shape of a heart was popular.
Water Balloons and Racquets
Morah Jessica filled the small water table with water balloons.
Next, racquets (fly swatters) were passed out to each child. The children used their racquets to hit the balloon. Some children elected to simply throw their balloons. A couple of the children discovered that they could squeeze their balloon, creating a small stream of water. They used this to squirt each other and cool down.
Paint Ball Art
Recently, Mr. Jonathan asked Kitah Daled to paint some tablecloths for upcoming events.
This week the children were offered paint balls to decorate a cloth.
Morah Jessica filled the small water table with water and Water Balls. The children were offered bottles of brightly colored tempera paint and a drop cloth tacked to the fence behind the stage. Morah showed the children how they could fill the balls with a bit of water and a squeeze of paint. The children were then instructed to throw the balls at the cloth.
The following day, Morah flipped the cloth over so the children could paint the other side.
As you can imagine, this was a very popular (and messy) activity.
There were a few exclamations of: “This is the best day ever!”
