Kitah Daled Enrichment adds Metal to Wooden Structures

Recently, Morah Jessica brought in some more materials for the children to use with their structures.

There are a variety of new wood scraps available in different sizes and shapes.

We also now have several types of metal brackets so the children can connect wood pieces in new ways.

Morah Jessica found an old Erector Set at an estate sale. The pieces are perfect to use with screws.

The metal can be bent to form new shapes. Many children are using these pieces to create bridges and pathways from their building to another.

Some children might just want a new design element.

The children really enjoy playing with their creations. Almost every day several of the children take out matchbox cars that they have brought from home and race them down their own ramps and bridges.

The children also use many of the structures as homes for plastic animals and dinosaurs.

The children recently began adding color to their sculptures.

They used acrylic paint markers to color their buildings, bridges, and ramps. Irving wrote “No animals allowed” on his ramp.

Many children invited their friends to help decorate their buildings.

The children began adding signs to their structures. Benji creates a sign for his ramp that says “Lightening Speed.” Yonit names her structure “The Flower Garden.” Nathan makes a sign for his structure that says, “House of Metal.”
