Kitah Bet-2 Make Menorahs
The Morah’s have observed that the Kitah Bet children are extremely interested in tape and sparkly items. They also quite enjoy sensory play. We wanted to feature these interests in their menorahs.
In the Atelier, Morah Jessica offered the children long ceramic tiles and masking tape. The children stuck strips of tape onto their tiles in a design of their choosing. Once finished, they painted their tiles with winter-themed acrylic paint shades.
Next, the children were offered gold, silver, and copper foil, and mica glitter. They sprinkled their choice over the wet paint.
Once the paint dried, the tape was removed. Morah Jessica glued the glass bottles and hex nuts down the center of their tile to act as candle holders. The tiles were then coated with Mod Podge for permanence.
During their next art class, the children are offered clear glass cabochans, crystals, and iridescent glass cubes to glue along the strides of their tiles. These added a bit of sparkle while still showing their painted designs underneath.
