Kitah Bet’s Nature Wands

The Kitah Gimmel children continue to be interested in sticks. They are constantly collecting them on the playground. This project was inspired by that interest.

The children were offered a variety of natural materials in jars such as: sticks, feathers, leaves, dried flowers, crystals, sea glass, and shells. They were asked to select materials from the jars to make their own wand. Morah Jessica helped the children to adhere the items to their stick using hot glue, twine, and wire. Some items could be strung onto wire and wrapped around the stick. After being shown how to wrap the wire, many of the children could do this themselves.

Some children selected twine or leafy green ribbon and asked Morah to tie it onto their stick.

Once the wands were finished, the children needed to test them out.

This project continues the thread of nature and natural materials.
