Kitah Bet Creates Nature and Clay Sculptures

Following the Papier Mache Plant sculptures, Kitah Bet continues the themes of nature and sculpture.

This week, the children were each offered a ball of Crayola Air Dry Clay. They were also presented with baskets and jars of many different natural materials. There were dried Rosebuds, sticks, Pinecones, Gumball seed pods, Mangrove pods, bark, and Tulip Poplar seed pods.

The children softened their clay with rolling pins and used clay tools and cutters to help them create the desired shape. They then chose their natural materials and pressed them into the clay.

The children painted their sculptures with pastel shades of tinted Mod Podge. They added glitter glue as a finishing touch.
