Mixed Media on Canvas Board with Kitah Alef

This week they were offered tempera sticks, dot markers, and glitter glue to decorate canvas boards. Kitah Alef children enjoy drawing and using markers. Morah Jessica thought these materials would feel similar enough to attract the children.

The children drew lines and squiggles across their boards. They printed watercolor dots over their marks. Last, they squeezed and spread glitter glue on top.

The following class, the children were offered scraps of transparent and metallic paper and glues sticks. They were also given non-toxic metallic paint markers. The children glued some of the scraps on top of their painted boards and drew atop the collage with the markers.

Next, the children were offered glitter glue and finger paints in a variety of bright colors.

The children drizzled the glue over their canvas boards. They frequently exchanged colors with each other.

The children dipped their fingers into a palette of finger paints, dotting paint onto the board with their finger tips.
