Kitah Alef Menorahs
Kitah Alef children have been practicing their fine motor skills in the Atelier. They seem to really enjoy the medium of paint and it’s texture. We wanted to incorporate the interest in paint and fine-motor mark making in this project.
The children were given acrylic paint markers to make marks on their tile. They chose a variety of bright colors to make zig-zags, dots, and sweeping lines across.
Next, they dripped and splattered shimmering tempera paint all over their tiles. The paint landed in small, shimmering drops and transparent splotches, still showing the bright designs underneath.
Morah Jessica glued the hex nuts across the long tile using Weldbond glue.
Once dry, the children spread a thick layer of Mod Podge over their paintings. This creates a glossy, protective layer preserving the composition underneath.
The children also chose from an assortment of brightly colored shell paper glitter and sprinkled their selection over the sticky surface.
