Kitah Alef’s Clay Bas-Relief on Wood
The children of Kitah Alef have been very sensory focused. We decided clay was the perfect medium for them to use to create an auction piece.
First Morah Jessica presented each child with a ball of Das italian air-dry clay. They each flattened their clay with a roller, then folded it with Morah Jessica, placing it on a round wood panel to dry. This process continued with each child until all the clay pieces were connected together, edges smoothed and trimmed. The dry clay was glued down with strong craft glue.
Next, the children were presented with paint in earthy shades of green, beige, and white. They painted over the clay root-like clay structure in an ombre of dark to light colors. The final piece has been sealed with Mod Podge and trimmed in gold acrylic.
