Kitah Gimmel’s Loose Part Pipe Lamp

The Kitah Gimmel children have been extremely interested in building and sculpture. Following their metal menorahs, we decided to continue constructing with metal for the auction project to create a pipe lamp.

The children were presented with a variety of loose metal parts: hardware, gears, pendants, and chains. They strung the materials onto wire so the pieces lay flat. Then they wrapped each end of the wire onto the lampshade frame so it hung vertically. The children continued this process until the entire shade was covered in strands of loose parts.

With the shade complete, the next step was to assemble the floor lamp. The children helped thread an electrical cord through the pipes. Then Morah Jessica connected the electrical cord to the socket.

The last step was to spray paint the shade and stand with a Midnight Blue spray paint and primer.

The children were proud of their work and had fun testing out the finished product!
