Kitah Bet-1 Makes Hole-Punch Leaf Art

For their Thanksgiving cards, the children of Kitah Bet-1 created mini-collages with Fall foliage collected from the neighborhood.

In the Atelier, the children were presented with squares of card stock, school glue, assorted fallen leaves, a variety of hole punches, and mica glitter. First the children each selected a leaf and a hole punch. Morah Jessica showed the children how to slide the leaf into the slot on the hole punch and press the button to make a shape out of the leaf. The children continued this process alternating hole punch shapes with different colored leaves. They saved the tiny leaf shapes to use as sequins. Next, the children spread glue onto their sheets of card stock. They sprinkled their leaf sequins over the wet glue. Some of the children added a leaf as well. They sprinkled mica glitter over their pictures for a final touch.
